I was born and brought up in Surrey and one of five children. I was raised in a busy but lovely home environment. After leaving school I attended Catering College in Guildford where I was awarded Catering Student of the Year and attended the Hotel Olympia Competition at which I gained a bronze medal. Having worked in the catering industry now for more than forty years,  including managing several hotels, I am now doing what I love the most, baking.  I started to bake cakes and cookies for stalls to help raise money for a friend’s cancer treatment and things really snowballed. The Little Pantry grew from there. I supply local shops in Woolsery and Hartland and several local businesses and Tea rooms including many holiday cottages. You can contact me directly to come and buy my award winning cakes, cookies and scones, quiches and sausage rolls.

This is what the Judges had to say

LITTLE PANTRY, WOOLSERY is a genuine cottage industry in a modern setting. Our judges were blown away by the breathtaking display of beautifully arranged sweet and savoury pastries, cakes and biscuits. Think lemon drizzle cake, farmhouse cakes, scones and more. Judges loved owner Valerie Snape’s splendid decorative wheat sheaf, shaped like a harvest loaf, destined for village events. Every product, they said, was baked to exactly the right colour, perfectly finished and  carefully wrapped.
